Worldwide, more than 150 million people suffer from problematic wound healing due to elective surgery, trauma or burns. Hypertropic scars, keloids, scar atrophy and other types of pathologic scars are the visible outcome of these problems and can lead to poor cosmetic and functional results.
If we want to strive for a “scarless” world, we need to link the knowledge of basic science researches, wound-care nurses and scar specialists. All disciplines, companies and actors in the field need to promote evidence based approaches leading to increase the patients quality of life.
The SCARS 2023 Meeting will be a major event around wounds and scars.
